Meet Aya Yamamoto

Aya is a Full-Stack Engineer transitioning from a career in the performing arts. As a musician, she struggled with whether she was making an impact. Now, she seeks to make more tangible and beneficial contributions to the community. According to the US Surgeon General, half of US adults report experiencing measurable levels of loneliness, and 15-24-year olds are spending 70% less time socially interacting with friends vs 20 years ago. Aya's project, Cook with Friends, allows people who are passionate about cooking and baking to share their favorite recipes and find other users with similar tastes. "I want to offer a simple platform where cooks or bakers of any level can enjoy and share their passion without the influence of today's social media trends," says Aya.
